Overview of Brandenburg gate
King Frederick William I, reigning from 1688, kept Berlin tightly contained within a star-shaped fortress, its small walls enclosing the burgeoning city. In 1734, with the construction of the Berlin Customs Wall (Akzsiemauer) surrounding the city and many of its suburbs, it was a forerunner of today's Brandenburg Gate, built by Carl Gotthard Langhans Architects, as a gate. city on the way to Brandenburg an der Havel (a town in the state of Brandenburg, Germany).

The architecture
Brandenburg gate is 26 meters high, 65.5 meters long and 11 meters deep. And so two imposing Baroque pylons, adorned with elaborate pilasters and triumphant trophies, support the monumental gate system .

The gate is the first element of a "new Athens on the Spree" by Langhans. As you can see, on top of the gate is a sculpture by Johann Gottfried Schadow relating to an important event in history, the Quadriga.
